Psychoanalysis is a form of intensive talk therapy. I work with my patients to look at their current problems, and how these may be related to their life histories. As patients understand these links, they are gradually able to figure out new and different ways of thinking, feeling, and functioning, thus decreasing suffering and enhancing joy.

All human beings struggle with various issues. Some struggles can be resolved by ourselves, or by connecting with family or friends. Other struggles are more challenging and we need professional help. During the first psychotherapy sessions, I try to get to know my patients as much as possible, and to understand their lives and the suffering that has brought them to me.

These sessions also allow my patients to get to know me, and to determine if they might feel comfortable working with me. Based on information gathered, I make a treatment recommendation. I always take time to explain the reason for the recommendation I am making, and answer any questions they may have about the therapeutic process. I understand both the vulnerability and the courage it takes to reach out for help. Talk therapy helps!
