VINCENT DEHILI, PhD.
“The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won’t wait while you do the work.” – Erik Erikson
If there’s anything being in the circus has taught me, it’s that juggling one too many balls in the air can lead to feeling like all you’re ever doing is picking up the pieces rather than being a part of the show. We’ve all had moments in our life when we get so caught up in the routine of life that we don’t stop to ask, “How did things get this way and is this what I really want moving forward?” As a therapist, I walk alongside my clients as we discuss the twists and turns they’ve experienced in life, focus on the strengths that they have and use mindfulness as a way to get out of your mind and back into a meaningful, valued life.
I practice as a generalist psychologist with specialization in young adults working through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, career indecision, group therapy, and life transitions. I believe that each person is a unique individual where culture and family plays a major role into who we are. My specialization in social justice work includes receiving various trauma trainings in prolonged exposure and EMDR as well as having worked over a year at the Trevor Project, an LGBTQ+ crisis youth hotline and chat service.
My educational background includes a Combined Ph.D. in Counseling and School Psychology from Florida State University. I completed my internship at The Ohio State University’s Counseling and Consultation Services and currently work as the Group Coordinator at the University of South Florida’s Counseling Center. Professionally, I currently serve as Membership Chair on the Florida Group Psychotherapy Society and as the Discussion Group Coordinator on the College Counseling – SIG for the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA).
Ever have a moment in your life where you wonder, “How did things get this way?” In today’s high-speed, ever changing world, it can be easy to lose sight of what’s really important to us and how we can move towards the life we want to live. My clients and I work together towards learning to accept and defuse the negative thoughts and feelings that hold us back from achieving our true potential.
